Rousoku Yoyo

Rousoku Yoyo is a candle brand founded in Matsumoto, Shinshu, in 2019.

We draw inspiration from the scenes and sensations we encounter in daily life — the landscapes of the land, natural materials, the changing seasons, memories of travel — and express them through the medium of candles.

We work with a wide range of materials, including paraffin, plant-based waxes, beeswax, and Japanese wood wax. Understanding the nature and characteristics of each, we carefully design everything from the combination of materials to color, texture, form, and the way a candle burns. Exploring the possibilities of materials and techniques, we value shaping each piece by hand.

To us, a candle is not simply a tool for lighting a room. The light and shadow that appear when a flame is lit, the flickering flame, the changing face of the wax over time — a candle creates a moment to pause in the everyday, a chance to shift one's mood or to turn inward.

Not only while it is lit, but also in the way it sits and holds its place, a candle becomes part of the landscape of daily life. We hope our candles blend naturally into everyday life, bringing at times a small change or a welcome sense of space.
