About us

yoyo Inc. began making candles in Shinshu, Nagano, in 2019.

At the root of our work are the materials and landscapes of the land, the turning of the seasons, and the sensibility that grows from living among them. We look to the beauty found in nature and in everyday life, and draw inspiration from the memories, culture, and human activity that each place holds.

Working with candles, we have deepened our understanding of raw materials — their properties and history, methods of making, and the mechanics of burning — and we pursue expression that draws out the true character of each material, backed by sound manufacturing technique. By bringing together inherited wisdom and modern technology, we create new value and possibilities for candles in contemporary life through light and scent. This is the craft we aim for.

We also value dialogue, partnership, and collaboration with companies and specialists in many fields, beyond our own skills and knowledge. When knowledge, techniques, cultures, and values cultivated in different fields meet, ideas and forms of expression emerge that none of us could create alone. By bringing our strengths together and expanding each other's possibilities, we create new value together.

Our aim is not only to make fine things. We want handwork to hold real value, and the people who make their living by it to be able to continue their work as their lives change. Fostering an environment where people can keep making things through every stage of life — marriage, childbirth, raising children, caring for family — is also something we care about deeply.
